Ackelia Smith Finishes Eighth in Women’s Long Jump at Paris Olympics

Ackelia Smith secured an eighth-place finish in the women’s long jump during Thursday’s afternoon session at the Olympic Games at Stade de France in Paris, with her best mark of 6.66m (0.1m/s). This marks Smith’s second top-eight finish at the Games, following her seventh-place finish in the triple jump last weekend with a distance of 14.42m.

Smith, the NCAA double champion and national champion, achieved her best jump of 6.66m on her first attempt, and also recorded a jump of 6.52m during the competition.

The event was won by American Tara Davis-Woodhall, who claimed her first Olympic gold medal with an impressive jump of 7.10m (0.8m/s). Defending champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany secured the silver medal with a leap of 6.98m (0.5m/s), while another American, Jasmine Moore, took the bronze with a jump of 6.96m (0.2m/s).

Smith’s performances in both the long jump and triple jump at these Games highlight her status as a strong contender in field events, and she continues to build on her impressive track and field resume.
